Before the capital of Japan moved to Kyoto, Nara, where the Heijo Palace was located, served as the capital. In addition to the Heijo Palace ruins, Todai-ji Temple, Kofuku-ji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine, which are registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites under the name ‘Cultural Properties of Ancient Nara,’ these sites offer a fascinating glimpse into Japan’s history and culture.

This tour will take you on a leisurely ride through the captivating city of Nara on a Brompton bicycle, accompanied by a local guide who knows the area well.
Your first stop will be the Heijo Palace Site Historical Park, home to a restored 8th-century palace. Make your way to Nara Park, home to over 1,300 sacred deer, designated as natural monuments. Surrounding the park, you’ll find Kofuku-ji Temple, Todai-ji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine, where you can interact with deer at various spots. The famous landmarks of Nara are quite spread out if walking, but by bicycle, you can efficiently enjoy sightseeing without getting tired from walking!
